Annie Reeves, 72, passed on Thursday, October 9, 2025 in Columbus, GA.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. EST/ 11:00 a.m. CST, on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at St. Luke AME Church, 2388 County Road 106, Midway, AL. There is no public viewing.
Annie Ruth Cox Reeves, better known as Ruth, was born on May 6, 1953 in Enon, AL to the late Mrs. Jennie Crymes and the late Carlton and Ida Mae Cox. She was under the care of Retha Cox Merritt from the age of 4 to 15. She moved back home after her sister Mildred graduated from W. E. Harris High School in Hastings, FL. She was the first clarinetist beginning in the 6th-12th grade. She moved back to Enon and started in the 10th grade at Merritt High School and graduated in 1970 being the youngest of her class.
After graduating, she completed a few college credits at CVCC and started working for Johnston Industries where she worked for 36 years and met her husband, the late King Samuel Reeves, Jr., and they were married for 36 years. She then began working for Mando America, Opelika, AL for 19 years. Ruth confessed Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion AME Church, Hastings, FL. She was a member of Gaines Chapel AME Church and after the passing of her husband, felt the call to go back to her home church, St. Luke AME Church, Enon, AL. She was a dedicated stewardess for both Gaines Chapel and St. Luke and was a faithful member. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Carlton and Ida Mae Cox, her sister, Odessa Cox, and the heart of her life, King Samuel Reeves, Jr.
She leaves precious memories to: her daughter Bernice Woods; sons, Angelo (Danielle) Reeves; Christopher (Gwendolyn) Reeves; her sisters, Ann Will Turpin, Mildred Brown, Yvonne Cox, Irene (Charles) Penn, Eunice (Danny) Ricks, her brother, Otis Carlton Cox; brothers-in-law, Larry (Sylvia) Reeves, Bernard (Lavon) Reeves, and Wayne Reeves; grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
