Mrs. Annie Will Williams, 75, of Smiths Station, AL passed Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be 12 noon EST, Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Horace Willis, officiating. Interment will in St. Paul C.M.E Church Cemetery, Crawford, AL. Visitation is Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST.
On September 8, 1946 the late Johnny Jeff Gentry and the late Louise Gentry were blessed with a beautiful daughter named Annie Will Gentry, who is also affectionately known as “Will”.
Annie Will was educated in the Lee County School system where she attended the former Prince Elementary School and she later graduated from Sanford High School in Opelika, AL.
At an early age, Annie Will’s spiritual walk began at Shady Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and through the years she continued to serve faithfully until her health declined. In her spiritual walk her journey included serving as the treasurer of the missionary society and choir member.
In November 1965, Annie Will Williams united into holy matrimony to Clarence Williams, Sr. Their union was blessed with four wonderful sons, and two beautiful daughters. Motherhood was a title that she held dear to her heart as she truly adored her children. As her family entered new generations, she extended her adoration to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was truly the “Matriarch” of her family.
She was a dedicated employee of The Columbus Medical Center for 15 years until her retirement in 2000. During her retirement she truly began to embrace life and all the joys it has to offer. Most importantly she was allowed more time for laughter and spending time with her family and friends.
“Will” is always going to be remembered as a beautiful, loving, gentle, kindhearted, generous, soft-spoken, compassionate, devoted, selfless, resilient and lovable woman that could light up your heart with her smile.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Carrie P. Wanton and Eva Nell Willis and brothers, Bennie C. Gentry and Johnny J. Gentry.
She leaves a lifetime of wonderful memories to be cherished by her husband, Clarence Williams, Sr.; four sons, Clarence Williams, Jr. and Renold (Denishia) Williams of Smiths, AL, Kenneth (Posie) Williams of Salem, AL and Carlos Williams of Columbus, GA; two daughters, Vashanda (Cedric) Holton of Ft. Mitchell, AL and Calandra (Devon) Henry of Smiths, AL; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Patterson of Opelika, AL; one brother, Robert (Ethel) Gentry of Cleveland, OH; sisters-in-law, Margaret Gentry of Cleveland, OH, Joyce Gentry of Ft. Worth , TX, Dorothy Stephens of Smiths, AL and Janice (Homer) Johnson of Salem, AL; brother-in-law James (Ozella) Williams of Syracuse, NY and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. She will surely be missed by all.

Gone yet not forgotten,
When I was young, I remember Aunt Will making caramel cake from scratch, even the frosting. We would go to her house and she would be in the kitchen making the cake. I watched her make it and I always got a piece when she finished. Mmm, Delicious! I would always be looking forward to it. As an adult, I used to look for caramel cake frosting but I could never find it. I remember her smile because she loved smiling. I also liked the way she said Bud, my fathers name. Her and my mother would talk on the phone for a long time.
Aunt Will you will be missed
Your niece, Cookie
Regardless of the long distance that separated Aunt Will and I ,we shared special moments together. My gratefulness to God for the opportunity to encounter such a person with a genuine spirit that is so rare to find. She was unaware that she was a mentor to many in many ways . Aunt Will demonstrated the desire to keep the laughter roaring regardless of life's challenges. She taught me to keep it moving !! When there is a bump in the road , I advise you to check your memory bank and see a woman with a big smile and a roaring laughter and all is well. Thank you Aunt Will Your niece Low from Syracuse ,NewYork

Aunt Will my heart is filled with love and sadness because you left us unexpectedly. But I'm also filled with joy because God called your name and you answered and He gave you your wings and you flew away. I know in my heart that your at rest with our Heavenly Father. I'm going to miss your smile, your laughter and our talks. When I need to talk with you about anything you would be there and give me good advice. I loved when you would ask me to "ask you do Will care, I would ask you and I can't put on here what you would say, but I'm sitting here writing this I'm laughing as well as remembering. You knew that I love you and I loved you dearly. I know you loved your children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, you loved everybody. Lay Lay, Shonda, Nold, Dinky, Rusty, Ken, Uncle Butterman and Aunt Dot we all miss and loved her, but God loved her best. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
