Arthur Rogers was born March 12, 1940 to David Rogers and Annie Browder Rogers in Pittsview, Alabama. After high school he joined the United States Air Force. Senior Master Sergeant Rogers served 24 years with honor as a Computer Specialist. In 1981, Arthur joined Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Columbus, Ohio.
As a reservist he served as an Equal Opportunity Officer and computer consultant. He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor's Degree from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio, and a Master's Degree from Troy State University in Phenix City, AL.
He received many awards and accolades, but the best of all was when he became a father and gave his life to Christ. He was baptized by Dr. J. H. Flakes, Jr and became involved in church school and Men in Action.
He was an avid tennis player until his health failed. And as he liked to tell, he was a star running back in high school.
He loved kids, especially his nieces and nephews, as evidenced by their presence here today from near and far. They were afraid not to show up. They have many fond memories of being quizzed about school, life, and their future.
He would help anyone … Arthur Rogers was an honorable man.
He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Lester Rogers of Florida.
Mourning his death are his loving wife of 54 years, Marian Delores Brown Rogers, his son, Jevarik Rogers, Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Jimmie (Shirley) Rogers, Tuskegee, AL, David (Beverly) Rogers, Bradenton, FL; four sisters, Evelyn Rogers, Tampa, FL, Darquita Rogers, Tampa, FL, Shenita (Rodger) Evans, Tampa, FL, Ida Singletary, Titusville, FL; a sister-in-law: Susie Hawkins, Dayton, OH, and a brother-in-law, James Brown, Dayton, OH; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
So sorry for your loss. I hope you and your family are healing during this time of grieving. Rev 21:3,4 reminds us of how death will be done away with, and no more mourning. Please visit www.jw.org.
