Obituary For Artie B. Tyson

Artie B. Tyson, 89, passed on Thursday, October 2, 2025 in Phenix City, AL.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Monday, October 6, 2025 at St. Ellis Full Gospel Church, Opelika, AL with Apostle James Fears, pastor and Min. Ezekial Fears, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, October 5, 2025 from 1 - 4 p.m. EST.

Artie B. Tyson was born November 20, 1935, in Opelika, Alabama, passed away peacefully under hospice care at his home on October 2, 2025.

His educational journey commenced in Opelika, Alabama, where he resided until relocating to Syracuse, New York, in 1971. During his time in Syracuse, he continued his professional career at Crouse Hinds until his retirement in 1991. He was an active member in his Freemasonry Fraternity and served as a deacon at Bellegrove Missionary Baptist Church. He returned to his hometown in 2007.

Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to pursuing activities that brought him immense joy. He maintained a close-knit family bond and assumed the role of a protective figure for his loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Smith Tyson and Carrie Pearl Allen; sister, Lelia Moore; brothers, Joe Coleman, Willie Lipscomb, and Charlie James Tyson; sons, Artie B. Tyson Jr., Ronnie Tyson, Mickey Tyson, and Rickey Tyson; daughters, Odell Tyson and Mary Nell Golden.

He is survived by his sons, Albert Tyson (Olayinka) of Virginia, Danny Tyson and Willie Tyson of Kentucky; daughters, Vivian Griffin of Phenix City, Alabama, Catherine Tyson, Affie Tyson, and Bernesta Tyson of Columbus, Georgia, Donna Mallory (Ronald) of Tennessee; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
