Tyree accepted Christ at an early age and joined Twenty-Fourth Street Baptist Church. A proud product of the Phenix City and Russell County school systems, Tyree carved a name for himself as a gifted and well-known barber in the community. But to truly know Tyree was to know laughter. His sense of humor was unmatched quick-witted, playful, and contagious.
He never met a stranger and could turn any room into a place of joy and laughter. Tyree was a familiar face in the local comedy scene and was especially known for his role in the Get Yo A.. On Roast Comedy Show, where his sharp comedic timing and lovable personality stole the show time and time again. He lived to make people smile, and that legacy of laughter
is what will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Tyree will be deeply missed by his family, friends, loyal clients, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. Though gone too soon, his memory will always be filled with joy, love,
and a good laugh. Tyree was preceded in death by his parental grandparents, Theodis Berry and Beatrice Ross, his maternal grandfather, Arthur C. Gordon, Sr., and brother Steven Gunn.
He is survived by his parents Claude and Bessie Benton of Phenix City, AL; sons, Tykel Hood, Zaki Hood, Zion Hood, Taj Hood, Taraji Hood, Jacobi Florence, Taylin Benton, Tycen Benton, all of Phenix City, AL and Khyon Jones of Columbus, GA; two sisters, Keianna Benton of Phenix City, AL and Suzclaudia Rutledge of Atlanta, GA; three brothers, Roderick (Tiffany) Benton, Eusebio (Sharon) Benton of Phenix City, AL and Clayton (Akeiva) Benton of Columbus, GA; and his maternal grandmother, Edna Gordon; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory and the lasting impact he had on their lives.
