Mr. Billy Jim Johnson, 68, of Phenix City, AL passed Thursday, October 26, 2023 in Newnan, GA.
Graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. EST, Friday, November 3, 2023 at Lakeview Memory Garden, Phenix City, AL with Elder Ben Matthews, eulogist. Visitation is Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 2:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. EST.
Mr. Billy Johnson was born March 21, 1955 in Columbus, GA. He was the son of the late Molly Upshaw.
He was a faithful member of the Phenix City West Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses where he served as a Elder. He retired from the River Center of Performing Arts.
Billy had a zest for life and enjoyed studying the bible and telling others about Jehovah's promise. Billy had a smile that was so affectionate that it would light up the whole room. He passed on to his children the gift of laughter and most importantly to have appreciation for Jehovah God and family.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony Green and Thomas Upshaw.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and dedicated wife of 42 years, Joann Johnson; one son, Jared (Melissa) Johnson; one daughter, Ashley (Timothy) Moffett, both of Phenix City, AL; eight grandchildren, two special cousins, Lovenia Gross and Gregory Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

My grandad was the happiest person that i knew.He was funny and always found a way to make me laugh. Anytime i needed advice on how to do things he was always open to talk. He'd called me his skinny minny every time he saw me. I'm gonna miss him so much 🩷& i love him with all my heart. Love Jalaya

The last time we worked together was October 2, 2023 at the Rivercenter and as usual we hugged and shared a joke. Billy never met a stranger. I met Billy when I started working at WTVM. He always lit up the room with his smile and positive outlook. After he left I found out we live just blocks away. Whenever I visited the River Center, he was the face I looked for. May you rest in eternal peace. -Angela Peterson
