Deacon Billy Ray Alexander was born September 27, 1949, in Russell County, Alabama to the late Mr. Roosevelt and Ada Mae Alexander.

On Sunday, June 16, 2024, he transitioned from this earthly home to his eternal rest with our Lord and Savior.

Billy Ray was born into the Mt. Olive Baptist church where he and his family we're faithful members. He dedicated his life to the Lord and was a faithful member of Peaceful Holiness Church up until he had fallen ill. He attended Russell County Public Schools and he graduated from South Girard High School in 1970. He later united in Holy Matrimony to a loving and devoted wife the Late Missionary Lois None Alexander, which was also his "Highschool Sweetheart", on December 23, 1972. To this union came ten children, fifteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He has always been known as a hardworking man. He began working at Dolly Madison and WC Bradley. He attended two colleges, Columbus State University and CVCC. He later decided to step out on faith and enter entrepreneurship in which he owned his company's business by the name of Alexander and Sons Home Improvement. He was also a General Contractor and worked nearly over 30 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, and a great businessman. He was well-known in the community in which he loved dearly. He always greeted people with a warm smile, and he never met a stranger. He was a type of man that was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was the type of man that visited his family and friends on the regular. He also stepped out Every Sunday wearing his "Sunday Best" and loved sitting and relaxing on his front porch. He waved and smiled at everybody that passed and drove by. He had a few nicknames including "Big Doc" and "Big Timer". One of his quotes to say when he would greet his family and friends was, "What's Up Docta"? He was selected by the Mayor and Council of Phenix City to serve on the Phenix City Charter Review Committee. He willingly served to help make the necessary recommendations for changes within the City Charter. He also served on the Phenix City Planning Committee, where they have been very successful in making the lives of citizens in Phenix City better and safer. Until his transition into Heaven, he has always been a man of faith and always trusted in the Lord faithfully.
