Mrs. Carsee Benton, 78, of Columbus, GA passed Friday, February 19, 2021 in Columbus, GA. Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST, Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Park Hill Cemetery Columbus, GA with Rev. J.C. Fryer, officiating. Visitation is Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. EST.
Mrs. Carsee Fair Benton was born on July 27, 1942 to the late Lessie Lee and Chas C. Fair in Pittsview, Alabama. She led a full and happy life surrounded by her loved ones and was blessed to welcome three more generations into her family before God called her home on February 19, 2021.
Upon giving her life to Christ, Carsee was baptized at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member up until her passing and served graciously as a member of the choir for many years.
Educated in the Phenix City School District, Carsee attended South Girard High School. She loved to host gatherings for her family and cooking was always her passion. Carsee carried this passion into a career and worked for L&S Services on Ft. Benning as a Cook. She retired in 2006 after more than 20 years and was able to meet some of her closest friends, provide for her family, and make a living doing one of the things she loved most.
Carsee enjoyed many years with her husband Simeon A. Benton before his passing in 2010. In addition, Carsee was preceded in death by her parents and 3 sisters, Mary A. Clark, Edith M. Dickerson, and Ethel M. Mackey.
Left to celebrate her life and cherish her memories is her brother Cleveland Fair Sr.;a sister and best friend, Ruthie Lee Williams; sister-in-law Maggie Benton Stephens; brother-in-law, Tyrone Hicks; two daughters, Gwendolyn Joyner and Deborah Elaine Evans (Freddie); 4 grandchildren, Daranis Joyner, Shacovah Edmonds (Barry), Christopher Joyner, and Miah Cliatt (Markeith); and 3 great-grandchildren, Mason Edmonds, Jacob Edmonds and Marley Cliatt; and a host of nieces and nephews.
We met briefly. However, I saw a lot of her in you. Your Mom is now at rest. A heavenly host blesses her now. She is happy. I know that she is carrying your smile. Charles.
We enjoyed the many visits and time spent with Carsee. She will be deeply missed. Praying for strength for the family. -Mollie Taylor and family
