Mrs. Catherine Black, 83, of Lafayette, AL passed Sunday, November 3, 2024 in Lafayette, AL.
Funeral service for Mrs. Catherine Black will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, November 9, 2024 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Motts, AL with Rev. Tommy Davis, officiating. Interment to follow in Concord Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Salem, AL. Visitation is Friday, November 8, 2024 from 12-5 p.m. EST.
Catherine Black, 84 was born in Lee County, Alabama to Mr. Walter Turner and Mrs. Fannie Turner on February 5, 1941. This moment marked the beginning of a blessed life well lived. She was a woman who lived life seeking God first and loving her family with her all. The calling of the Master has brought to an end her fruitful and active life Sunday, November 3, 2024 when Catherine Black entered into eternal life.
As a child, Catherine confessed her love and faith in Christ at an early age, her family church was St. Paul C.M.E in Crawford, Alabama. Notably, Catherine was employed with Bibb Mills in Columbus, Georgia for over 43 years, working up until her health began to decline in her later years.
Catherine found the love of her life from beginning to end with her husband and family. Catherine was married to Johnnie Earnest Black for 65 years. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and Christian,
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 2 sons, 2 granddaughters, and a loving aunt.
Catherine Black will always be loved and remembered for ever by her loving family consisting of her beloved six children, Raymond (Azrine) Morgan, Christopher (Theresa) Black, Dale (Barbara) Black, Sharon (Jon) Cockrell, Sandra (Ricky) Brooks, and Stephanie (Stan) Smith; eight siblings, Malinda Cason, Margaret (Nehemiah) Stevens, Fannie (Arthur) Samuel, Kathy (Charles) Anthony, Charlie Robinson, Jerry (Crystal) Turner, Ricky (Tiffany) Turner, Dan (Rhonda) Turner, Charlie Bell Floyd and Mary Floyd; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.
Catherine Black’s favorite Book of the Bible was John. In her honor, we ask that you reflect on God’s Word, which guides our lives and hearts. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and matriarch has instilled in each of us, as a lasting legacy to seek and love God!
