Charlie Sanders, Sr., 79, of Columbus, GA, passed on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in Columbus, GA.
Charlie Sanders, a devoted man of faith, loving husband and father, cherished brother, and dear friend, peacefully departed this life on September 1, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born on October 30, 1946, Charlie lived a life grounded in Christian faith and guided by love, kindness, and devotion to those around him. As a devoted husband and father, he took great pride in caring for and providing for his family. Charlie was a hardworking and dedicated man who faithfully served his community through his work at Swift Spinning Mill for 47 years. His commitment to his family and his work reflected the strong values he carried throughout his life.
Charlie deeply loved his family and treasured the close friendships he developed throughout the years. He had a way of making those around him feel valued and loved. His presence brought comfort and joy to those fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Roy and Daisy Sanders; his sister, Eva Mae Watley; and his brothers, Prather Sanders, Marshall Sanders, and McCann Sanders.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his children, Virginia (Lorenzo) Bass of Montgomery, AL; Charlie (Katina) Sanders of Phenix City, AL.; and Michelle Sanders of Phenix City, AL.; his siblings, Christine “Sister” Starland of Palmetto, FL.; Ollie Mae Bryant of Columbus, GA.; and Erma Jean Coleman of Columbus, GA.; and a daughter of love, Jasmine Leonnard of Columbus GA.

Knowing and working with Charlie, one thing I can say when you hear the phase, you can trust your life in someone hands, more often than not it is just hyperbole, but when I say that I could trust my life in this man's hand, I mean every word of it. There is no one that I could trust or confide in, any more than my friend Charlie Sanders
