Mr. Christopher Bernard Chatman, 52, of Phenix City, AL passed Sunday, May 1, 2022 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, May 7, 2022 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Desi Morgan, Sr., officiating. Interment to follow in St. Peter A.M.E Church (Old Cemetery). Visitation is Friday, May 6, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST.
Christopher Bernard Chatman was born on September 14, 1969 in Phenix City, AL to Marie Chatman.
He graduated from Baker High School in 1988. He attended Marshall Missouri Valley College where he graduated in 1991. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Faternity.
Chris accepted Christ at an early age at which he attended Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of South Griffin Lodge #697 7th District MWPAGLA.
He was called to eternal rest on Sunday, May 1, 2022 in Columbus, GA.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Cedric Moore; grandparents, Arthur Chatman, Sr. and Josephine Chatman.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Marie Chatman of Phenix City, AL; one son, DeVonte' Chatman of Columbus, GA; six grandchildren, Carson Chatman, Jordan Lott, Adele Bosques, Josiah Chatman, Koda Lewis and Sade' Chatman; two uncles, Arthur Chatman, Jr. and George Chatman who was a devoted caregiver of Phenix City, AL; two aunts, Willie Mae Smith and Mary Battle of New York; two nieces, Cedricka Moore and Serenity Luttrell of Columbus, GA; five nephews, Marquis Harps, Jeremiah Moore, Cedric Moore of Phenix City, AL; Raheem Jones and CK Holloway of Columbus, GA; cousin Alicia Chatman of Atlanta, GA and a host of other relatives and friends.
Fruit Man was known and loved by many at Baker High School,I send my Condolences and Prayers to his family. He was a sweet person and will be truly missed by everyone who knew him. Love Leslie Walker Class of 89

So sorry to read of Chris' passing. I remember him as Baker's heavyweight on their wrestling team. He was always kind off the mat. My prayers are with his family he left behind.

To The Chatman family. I will forever keep you in my prayers. Fruit will be more than missed. He was well known and touched a lot of ppl lives. Anyone he came in contact with he left a mark of some kind on their heart to remember him. We all know he loved his blue and white but he also love his Masonic family.
