I learnt so much under his leadership. I love you and I thank you for everything and I told him this many times as I would see him here and there in the city. Take your rest you earned it ❤️❤️❤️
My deepest sympathies and condolences to the family, friends and all who knew Mr. Rutledge. I have great memories of Mr. Rutledge. He started me playing basketball in the third grade, he was the coach at South Girard Elementary and my sixth grade teacher. He once told me that he put me on the basketball team because he knew my mother and she was tall so he knew that I would be tall also. (I grew to be 6' 6") He was one of a few people who I know who knew my mother Irene Spivey, she died when I was just two years old. I remember when I was in his 6th grade class, he would have me to deliver hand written notes to teachers in the school and to teachers at the high school. I would have to wait for the reply and return the reply note back to him. I enjoyed being his messenger, it gave me a chance to be out of class. Today we have text messages and emails. Mr. Rutledge was very special to me and to all who knew him. We all will miss him, he is a true legend. Coach Rob Spivery
