Mr. Curtis Deloney, 59, of Phenix City, AL passed Monday, October 21, 2024 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Wilcox, officiating. Burial in Alexander Abercrombie Cemetery. Public viewing is 2:00-5:00 p.m. EST on Monday, October 28, 2024.
Mr. Curtis James βChewβ Deloney was born July 12, 1965 in Phenix City to the late Ms. Catherine Deloney and Mr. Curtis Abercrombie. Curtis was an exceptional basketball player for Mount Olive High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1983. After high school, he attended Morristown College in Morristown, Tennessee, where he also played basketball.
Curtis later accepted Jesus Christ, under the leadership of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Phenix City, AL. He was employed at Columbus Foundry, until his health declined. Curtis had a passion for sports cars, animals, fishing, grilling, and most importantly, family. He truly demonstrated unconditional love towards his daughters and grandchildren. His favorite team was Alabama Crimson Tide football, ROLL TIDE ROLL.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his grandparents, Henry and Queenie Deloney.
Curtis' memories will be cherished by his two daughters, LaChamane Deloney (Torris James) and Queenyetta Deloney, both from Phenix City, AL; three grandchildren, Tre'vion James, Toree James, and Tesla James; three siblings, Joesph Deloney, Veronica Deloney-Berry (Kareen) both from Phenix City, AL, Otis Deloney, (Sonya) from Valley, AL; three nephews, Terell Edmonds, DeonTray Williams, and Lazarus Deloney; one niece Destinee Deloney; three aunts, Bertha Hicks, Lilly Marchany, both of Phenix City, AL, and Connie Peoples of McDonough, GA; five uncles, Henry (Shirley) Deloney, Tommy (Margaret) Deloney, Willie Deloney, Tyrone Deloney, and James Abercrombie; two great-aunts, Marion Dixion and Jeann Belue of Phenix City, AL; and three devoted friends, Samuel Chadwick, Morris Bowman, and David Ford. He also leaves behind a host of cousins and friends.
