Born on March 13, 1961, in Albany, Georgia, Curtis Jamal Jackson was the son of Isaac Jackson Jr. and Dennie Jackson-Cross. He graduated from Daugherty High School in 1979 and initially attended Albany State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Throughout his military career, he traveled extensively, with experiences in Germany and California. He later accepted Christ as his Lord and risen Savior under the guidance of Rev. In 1988, Jamal met Deborah Alexander, whom he quickly declared to be his future wife. The couple married in 1990, and enjoyed 36 years of unconditional love and devotion. Jamal was a devoted father and hero to his three children: AnaStaja, Bryan, and Brandon.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed various hobbies. You could find Jamal playing basketball and coaching AAU and Midnight basketball leagues. He also enjoyed working out, playing tennis, tinkering with cars, learning new skills, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, or watching movies and tv shows, especially the comedic performances of Kountry Wayne. He was a role model and father figure to many in his community.

Jamal was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Isaac and Bettie Jackson; and father-in-law, William Alexander Jr.

He peacefully departed this life on April 10, 2026, surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. He leaves to celebrate his life his devoted wife, Deborah Jackson; loving mother, Dennie Jackson-Cross; cherished children, Nastjata Witherspoon, Bryan (Destini) Jackson, and Brandon (Aaliyah Tucker) Jackson; buddy, Tyson; granddaughter, Dejah Woodall; and a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.
