Sgt. David Lee Gill was born September 15, 1956 to the lTE Pearletha Ricks Washington and Issac Gill. David was the middle son of eight siblings he adored, but he was determined to be the keeper of the castle and make his mother proud. After he received his education from Watson Chapel High School, he continued his education and career with the United States Army. David was the life of the party being that he was a full time disk jockey when he was not in uniform. When David retired from the military, he began his second career with Vulcan Materials (down in the hole) where he spent more than 15 years as Journeyman diesel mechanic as well as coordinator at his location. David began studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2011 where he gained many spiritual brothers and sisters along his journey. David departed this life on Thursday, November 14, 2019 after a very long battle with cancer.
He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Ms Doris Gill; four sons, David Lemar, Michael, Jr., Marvin (Shiffon), and Demar (Seante); three daughters, Natosha, Shaleta (Eric) and Diamond (Anthony); eight brothers, Don (Jerrie), Bobby, Eugene, Burl Lee, Alford, James, Tyree, and Tyrone; six sisters, Gladys (Henry), Doris (Robert), Ruthie, Denise, LaVerna, and Henrietta; two sisters-in-law; Madonna (Donnell) and Sandra; one brother-in-law, Darriel (Karen); seventeen grandchildren; one great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
David was a joyful, caring, and compassionate man that was always vibrant and full of life. He cared deeply for his family and close friends that he has gained over the years. David had two nicknames, Catfish and Superman because he was always preparing to help someone in need, but that was just his normal nature to take care of his people. Rest easy David, in God's love. There will never be another David L. Gill.
