Dea. Willie J. Madden, 89, passed Friday, April 26, 2024 in Salem, AL.
Funeral service to be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024, 12:00 p.m. EST at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church in Salem, AL with Rev. Adrian Frazier, pastor, officiating and Rev. Dewayne Drakeford, eulogist. Public viewing Monday, April 29, 2024 from 1 - 5 p.m. EST. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Dea. Willie J. "Mr. Patches" Madden, the only child to the late Ulysses and Mable Madden was born November 29, 1934, in Salem, AL. He was educated in the Lee County school system. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon; Chairman of Deacons, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Vacation Bible School Teacher until his health failed.
Willie loved people and never met a stranger.
Willie was proceeded in death by his wife of 58 years, Myrtis L. Madden and son, Dwight James Madden.
Those left to cherish his memory are four daughters; Linda (David) Hardge of Smiths Station, AL, Nettie (Roy) Chambers of Valley, AL, Sarah (Eddie) Jews and Barbara Carter of Salem, AL; one son, Willie Samuel Madden of Valley, AL; nine grandchildren, Duwanda Nelson (Artis), David (Brandy) Hardge, Antonio (Gina) Hardge, Toriano (LeKisha) Madden, Andre (Angelica) Chambers, Dorion (Stacey) Ryans, Samorica (Justice) Branyan, Portia Chambers, Mariah (Robert) Carter,k; 14 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; a host of cousins, family, and friends.
