Obituary For Deacon Oliver "Frog" James
Deacon Oliver Lee βFrogβ James, 82, of Ft. Mitchell, AL passed on Saturday, April 18, 2026 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. EST, Friday, April 24, 2026 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Ft. Mitchell, AL with Pastor Frederick Small, officiating. Interment to follow in the cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Taylor Funeral Home.
Mr. Oliver James was born on October 1, 1943, in Fort Mitchell, Alabama to the late Farris James and Carrie Mae Hudson. He transitioned to his heavenly home on April 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by two siblings: Inell Franklin and Robert Lee James, both of Fort Mitchell, Alabama, and a loving grandson, Desmond James of Phenix City, Alabama.
Oliver accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Mitchell, Alabama where he served faithfully as an usher and deacon until his health started to decline. He was employed for 25 plus years at Shaw Main Post of Fort Benning, Georgia.
Oliver memories will be cherished by his loving wife, Betty Ann James of Fort Mitchell, AL; one brother, Jesse Trotman of Phenix City, AL; three children; Derrick (Lucy) Lamar James of Phenix City, AL, Rodney (Letitia) Keith James of Phenix City, AL, and Darrell (Angela) Terrell James of Phenix City, AL; six grandchildren; Stephanie Thomas of Kennesaw, GA, Shanteria Hood of Phenix City, AL, Octavia Jones of Phenix City, AL, Derrick James of Huntsville, AL, Zykeria James of Columbus, GA; Marquias Walker of Marianna, FL; great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, host of cousins and friends.
