Mr. Dexter "Poochie" Wilson, 52, of Phenix City, AL passed Wednesday, October 27, 2021 in Columbus, GA with his loving and devoted wife of more than 25 years at his side.
His celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 12 noon EST at Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church, Phenix City, AL. with Presiding Elder of the Phenix City Opelika District Reverend Johnny B. Rutledge, eulogist. Dexterβs remains will be deposited at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery Ft. Mitchell, AL following the services.
Dexter, affectionately known to many as "Poochie", was born on April 21, 1969 to the late Willie Henry Williams and the late Helen Deloris Wilson in Phenix City, AL. He matriculated in Phenix City School District and graduated from Central High School in 1987. Dexter served eight years in the United States Army before returning to his hometown to marry Vetrina Denise Robinson. For many years, Dexter toiled at Westrock (formerly known as Meade Coated Board) until medically retired.
He is survived by his wife, V. Denise Wilson of Phenix City, AL; one dedicated son, Vertaio K. Wilson of Huntsville, AL; one adoring daughter, Amiyah Neoni Wilson of Montgomery, AL; two sisters, Tonia (Charles) Armstead and NaβTasha Wilson both of Killen, TX; one father-in-law, John L. (Mary) βCrowβ Robinson of Patterson, NJ; one sister-in-law, Angela (Reginald) Robinson-Luckey of Columbus, GA; one brother-in-law, Alan D. Caldwell of Tampa, FL; one goddaughter, Anyla Vaughn of Phenix City, AL; three uncles, John Henry (Annie) Wilson, Jr., Rollin Frank (Sonja) Wilson both of Phenix City, AL and Isaac Watkins of Sacramento, CA; two uncles-in-law, James Rutledge, Jr. and Jimmy Robinson both of Phenix City, AL; three aunts, Sarah Thomas Lee of Crawford, AL, Joyce W. Stephens of Phenix City, AL, and Patricia W. (Nathaniel) Ashford of Smiths, AL; six aunts-in-law, Bessie R. Florence of Columbus, GA, Suzetta Rutledge, Annie (Virgil) Robinson, Essie Robinson, and Rudy Robinson-Bell all of Phenix City, AL and Teresa (Norman) Lattimore of Midland, GA; one godmother, Gloria Scott of Phenix City, AL; nine nieces and nephews; seven great grand nieces and nephews; two loyal friends, Lawrence Boone (Katilya) McCoy and Malcolm (Cynthia) Walton; and a community of cousins, other family and friends.
