Obituary For Dorothy Ruth King
Dorothy King, 76, passed on Saturday, July 13, 2024 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, July 20, 2024 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home located at 1514 5th Ave, Phenix City, AL with Brother Ulysses Adkins, officiating. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Public visitation is 1:00-5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, July 19, 2024.
Ms. Dorothy Ruth King was born November 27th, 1947, in Russell County, Alabama to the late Robert Lee King, Sr. and Eva Lou King. Dorothy went into a peaceful rest on Saturday, July 13th, 2024. She is preceded in death by her son, Glen King, her brothers Robert Lee King, Jr., Wachester King, Carlton King, her sisters Lula Tarver, Carol King, Ruby King, Nora Bell King, and her son-in-law, Langston Trent Bassett IV.
She attended Alabama State University and was the eldest of ten siblings. She dedicated her entire life to helping others. She was also a loving and caring person. She will be deeply missed. She loved Jehovah God and studied his word, the Bible.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Jill King-Bassett; her sister, Christine Jones; brother in law, Henry Tarver Sr.; her grandchildren, Bionca King, Tykeria (LaJarvis) Jones, Langston Trent Bassett V, Jaquavia Bassett, and Marnica Davis;her eight great-grandchildren; her nieces, Tammy Jones, Dominique (Keith) Cordell, Bernadette King, and Loretta Tarver; her nephew, Christopher King; her best friend of many years, Martha Harris; several great nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends to always share in her memories.
