Ms. Dorothy Washington, 77, passed on August 16, 2024 in Columbus, GA
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, August 24, 2024 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home located at 1514 5th Ave, Phenix City, AL with Rev.Teresa Stallings, officiating. Visitation is Friday, August 23, 2024 from 2 - 5 p.m. EST. Interment to follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church, Highway 80, Phenix City, AL.
Born on May 1, 1947, to the late Meron Wilson Sr. and the late Maggie Reed in Phenix City, AL, Ms. Dorothy Ann Wilson Washington passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Piedmont Midtown Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.
Ann attended Phenix City schools and graduated from South Girard High School. She retired from the Muscogee County School Nutrition Program in 2016, where she was employed for over 18 years. Affectionately known as “The Lunch Lady,” she was loved by all the students she served. Ann had a passion for cooking, especially baking, and was known for making the best cakes. She accepted Christ at an early age and lived out her faith by helping others.
Ms. Washington was preceded in death by her three brothers: Meron Wilson Jr., James Wilson, and Larry Wilson; and her sister, Mildred Mahone.
She is survived by her son, Timothy K. Washington (Gerri) of Yucca Valley, CA; four granddaughters: Rashida Smith of Griffin, GA, Canshara Washington of Fremont, CA, Keithia Washington and Tiani Washington of San Bernardino, CA; two great-grandsons: Jeremy and Joel Smith of Griffin, GA; and a great-granddaughter, Storee Nelson of San Bernardino, CA. She is also survived by three nephews: Marcus Wilson (Tonia) of Phenix City, AL, Donnie Wilson of Columbus, GA, and Ronnie Wilson of Atlanta, GA; one niece, Deidre Mahone of Detroit, MI; a brother-in-law, Richard Mahone; and a forever sister-in-law, Evon Wilson of Columbus, GA, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
