Eddie Lou Northcutt, 92, of Merrillville, IN, passed Saturday, October 22, 2022 in Merrillville, IN.
Funeral service will be held 12 noon EST Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Benevolent Grove Baptist Church, Pittsview, AL. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Eddie Lou Mitchell Northcutt “Susie” was born on May 3, 1930 in Pittsview, Alabama to the late Charles and the late Mary Mitchell. Eddie Lou was one of the eldest of ten children. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Benevolent Grove Baptist Church in Pittsview, Alabama.
Eddie Lou, a strong, energetic young woman eventually moved to East Chicago, Indiana. She was employed at several entities and ultimately retired from the Rosalee women’s clothing store in Hammond, IN.
Eddie Lou then married Lonnie Northcutt in 1975. The couple enjoyed spending time with family and caring for one another. The Northcutt’s moved to Pittsview, AL to care for Eddie Lou’s ailing mother, Mary Mitchell. Eddie Lou proudly served at Hurtsboro Senior Center for over 30 years.
Eddie Lou is proceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Mitchell; husband, Lonnie Northcutt; three brothers, Jules, Merrie and Walter Mitchell and two sisters, Nancy and Katie Mitchell.
Eddie Lou’s memory will forever be cherished by her two brothers, Willie (Gloria) Mitchell from East Chicago, IN and Jimmy (Christine) Mitchell of Rockledge, FL; one sister, Ethel Rodgers of Merrillville, IN; a special nephew, Romerica (Deborah) Mitchell along with their son Romerica, Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.

My sincere condolences to the family of Susie Northcott. Although I met you just a few years ago, I will surely miss your smile, kindness, and our occasional phone conversations. Rest a while dear cousin until we meet again. For this is our blessed hope.
