Edith M. Stallings, 84, of Phenix City, AL passed on Thursday, April 2, 2026 in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Monday, April 13, 2026 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 3694 US Highway 80 W, Phenix City, AL with Pastor Steven Garrett, pastor, officiating. Burial at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Public visitation will be Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. EST at the funeral home.
Edith Mae Stallings was born on November 21, 1941 to the late Essie Heard (nee) Kendrick and William Heard in Lee County, Alabama and departed this life on April 2, 2026.
Edith accepted Christ at an early age and served in various ministries and faith organization positions. She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and later a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Edith is a graduate of the 1959 Class of South Girard High School in Phenix City, Alabama.
She joined Bobby Stallings in Holy Matrimony on December 29, 1962. Edith was a military wife who traveled extensively abroad and all throughout the United States with her husband in support of his military career. Upon Bobby’s retirement from the US Army, they returned to Phenix City where she was employed with the Phenix City Housing Authority for over 20 years. Upon her retirement she traveled for leisure, visiting with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bobby Stallings; infant daughter, Barbara Stallings; father, William Heard, mother, Essie L. Heard; four brothers, Willie Lee Palmer, King Heard, Oree Heard, Sr., and David Heard, and one sister, Doris J. Davis.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Undrea Stallings; daughter, Yolanda Fergerson; four grandchildren, D’Shaun Stallings, Marissa Scott, D’Andre Stallings and Donovan Fergerson; five great grandchildren, special and dedicated relatives; cousin, Marie Crowell, nieces Debra Allen and Melonise Reese and caring neighbor, Willie L. Thomas and many numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
