Obituary For Edward Thomas

Edward Thomas, 88, passed on Thursday, December 4, 2025 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, December 20, 2025 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Frederick Griffin Jr., officiating. Burial to follow in Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Seale, AL. Public viewing is 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, December 19, 2025.

Born in Union Springs, AL to the late Henry and Rosie Mae Thomas, George grew up with a passion for life. Learning his trade in Detroit, MI, he was a master mason for over 60 years.

An avid outdoorsman, George loved fishing, watching sports, including his beloved Atlanta Braves, WWE wrestling, as well as old westerns like Gunsmoke. His infectious laughter and adventurous spirit created lasting memories during family gatherings. He was a true friend to many, known for his generosity and willingness to help others.

George is survived by his cherished wife, Rev. Alma Thomas; his children, Eva Williams, Patricia Anderson, Turner (Sharon) Williams, Jr., Linda Faye Chambers, Curtis Williams, Randall Williams, Angelia Dixon, Edward (Williene) Thomas Anderson, Erick Shawn (Katonya) Anderson, Marcus Kellye Anderson, & Karen Anderson. He was preceded in death by his two children, Ventez Thomas and Christa Furcon. George leaves behind over 30 grand & great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. Additionally, he leaves behind a devoted niece, Bonnie Willis, and a host of other nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.

George’s legacy of love, dedication, and inspiration will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be dearly missed.
