Ethel L. Thomas, 85, of Hamilton, GA passed on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 in Hamilton, GA.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. EST on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Mountain Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Hamilton, GA 31811 with Rev. D'Andre Gillespie, Pastor, officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Taylor Funeral Home.
Our beloved mother, Ethel Lene, was given her wings on April 15, 2026 leaving a void that cannot be filled. She dedicated her life to her family and friends and was the heart of our family- a source of endless laughter and warmth. Known for her signature dishes and desserts, she made every house a home.
She was born on August 1, 1940 in Hamilton, Georgia to the late W.C. Dorsey and Eva Lizzie Dorsey. Sister Thomas, aka “Lene” joined Mountain Hill Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She served faithfully as President of the Usher Board, a Deaconess and anywhere else where she felt there was a need. She was a loyal employee of the Harris County School Board where she worked faithfully as a school bus driver until she retired.
She is survived by two daughters, Valerie Burrows (Brione) of Milledgeville, Georgia and LaCrisha Evans (Thackery) of Lilburn, Georgia. She also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Bria Strange (Dexter), Brione Burrows Jr., Kayla Evans and Harrison Evans; 2 great grandchildren, Dominic and Dakota; 3 brothers, Willie “Paul” (Martha), Bobby “Curt” (Debbie), Malvin “Mac”(Juanita) and 3 sisters, Hattie Mae ( Aaron ), Rubye Jean (Roy) and Cheryl Faye (Walter).
Known for her honesty and strength, she used her life to uplift many, refusing to let her struggle define her. Her experiences and the life she lived was her testimony. Her presence will be deeply missed.

Aunt Lene meant EVERYTHING to our family. From her delicious dinners and treats to her endless comedy show. Our hearts hurt because we will miss her but what better place to be than being with Jesus?! We'll see you in the morning 🫶🏾
