Obituary For Floyd B Jackson

Floyd Jackson, 82, passed on Monday, September 16, 2024 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. EST on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the Infantry Chapel located at 7070 Sigerfoos St in Ft. Moore, GA with Rev. Harrison Ford, officiating. Burial to follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Public viewing is 2:00-5:00 p.m. EST on Monday, September 24, 2024.\

SFC Floyd Butler Columbus Jackson, a veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime resident of Columbus, passed away on September 16, 2024. Jack, as he was known to many in the area, was born September 18, 1941, to the late Thomas Jackson, Sr. and Goldie Johnson Jackson. He attended public schools of Dorchester County graduating from Maces Lane High School in 1959.

After finishing high school, he served in the United States Army, seeing action in Vietnam, and completing tours in Germany and Korea. In 1988, he retired from the Army and continued working in Food Services at Fort Benning for several years. Jack also drove school buses in Muscogee County.

Jack is preceded in death by his brothers Harry and Thomas Jackson, Jr. and sisters Thelma Jackson, Minnie Brown and Elizabeth Rice.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Dinah Jackson, as well as daughters Heather Jackson of Aberdeen, MD and Tamika Jackson of Ocean, NJ; sons Demetrius (Dawna) Dawkins of McDonough, GA and Dunstan (Trinity) Lowe of Maplesville, AL; brother James Jackson, Sr. (Myrtle) of Bloxom, VA; grandsons Jourdan Jackson, Maleek King, Jahkeem Monroe, Demetrius Javaris Dawkins and Orion Lowe; granddaughters Tyquesha Jackson, Brianna Geesling and Kiuna Dawkins; great grandsons Jourdan Vincent Floyd Jackson, Jr. and Clark Geesling; 10 sisters in law; 7 brothers in law and a host of other relatives and friends.
