Freddie Toney, 74, formerly of Seale, AL passed on Friday, August 1, 2025 in Paterson, New Jersey.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, August 16, 2025 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Davis, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter AME Church Cemetery (Old Cemetery), Seale, AL. Public Visitation will be from 2 - 5 p.m. EST Friday, August 15, 2026
Freddie Lee Toney (Boss) was born on January 12, 1951, in Seale, Alabama, the son of the late Pinkie Johnson and Joseph Toney. He was called to his eternal rest on Friday, August 1, 2025, at St. Joseph University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by two children, Gregory Toney and Freddie Denson (Little Freddie); four sisters, Betty Mae Grant, Pinkie Lee Johnson, Fellesher Toney, and Johnny Mae Jackson Williams; and three brothers, James Hood, Tommy Howard, and Frank Patrick.
He worked 35 years at Ship Tank and Flex Van as a certified welder. He also loved restoring and repairing vehicles.
Freddie Lee Toney (Boss) leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Ethel Thomas-Toney (life partner of 53 years); two daughters, Deborah Toney and Stephanie Toney of Phenix City, Alabama; three sons, Renato Thomas and Reginald Thomas of Paterson, New Jersey, and Ronald (Neshea) Thomas of Willingboro, New Jersey; His sisters Bertha(Peter) Wright of Paterson, New Jersey and Dorothy (Wilber) NeSmith of Newark, New Jersey; Helen Patrick and Mary Brundidge of Atlanta, Georgia; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Tabatha Denson (Freddie Denson); sister-in-law, Annie Dewberry of Phenix City, Alabama; brother-in-law, Moses (Nursie) Thomas of Smith Station, Alabama, and Walter (Gloria) Thomas of Columbus, Georgia; (Deceased) John (Bobby & T-girl) Thomas of Phenix City, Alabama, Annie (Jimmy) Outlaw of Chicago, Indiana. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
