Obituary For Gloria Jean Crawford
Gloria Jean Crawford, 67, of Phenix City, AL passed on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 in Columbus GA.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. EST, Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Bethel AME Church, Hwy. 165, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Melissa Smith, pastor, officiating and Rev. Brandon Thornton, eulogist. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 - 5 p.m. EST, Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
Mrs. Gloria Jean Lewis Crawford was born September 1, 1957, in Phenix City, Alabama, to the late Bobby Edmonds and the late Mary Lee Lewis.
On Wednesday, August 20,2025, at Piedmont Northside Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Gloria peacefully departed this life and entered into eternal rest.
Gloria was employed with the McCluskey family for over 20 years, where she worked with dedication and commitment.
At an early age she accepted Christ at Bethel A.M.E. Church, where she served faithfully as an Usher until her health began to decline. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, exceptional grandmother and a woman who carried herself with grace, humility, and compassion for everyone.
Gloria was united in holy matrimony to Earnest Crawford and together they shared 41 years of marriage and two children.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mary ‘Mull’ Lewis, her father Bobby Edmonds and her son Michael (Amanda) Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her devoted son Jerome (Tamika) Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia; her beloved grandchildren, Shavona Lewis (Robert) Turner of Fort Stewart, Georgia, Cardaryl Lewis of Phenix City, Alabama, So’laya Robinson of Atlanta, Georgia, Tyriana Thomas of Columbus, Georgia, Elijah Jenkins of Columbus, Georgia and Kionte Torbert of Phenix City, Alabama; and one great-grandson Cardaryl Lewis Jr. of Phenix City, Al.
She is also survived by her loving sisters and brothers: Barbara (the late Calvin Sr,) Price, Stephanie (the late Eugene) Echols, Beverly Preer, Sheila (Larry) Walton, Murphy Abercrombie and Bobby (Debbie) Preer.
In addition, Gloria leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends who will forever remember her kind unwavering faith and the love she so freely shared.
Gloria Jean Crawford lived a life filled with devotion to God, her family and her community. Though her earthly journey has ended, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
