Mrs. Gloria Ann Jones was born on December 14, 1959, in Phenix City, Alabama, to the late Johnny Lee Davis and Inell Davis. Her life's journey ended peacefully at her home in Columbus, Georgia, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
Gloria, affectionately known as Lorraine, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. She found joy and happiness in the love of her family, and she dedicated herself to serving others through her church and community outreach.
Gloria's educational journey began at Mount Olive High School in Fort Mitchell, Alabama, and later continued at Tillinghurst Adult Education School in Columbus, Georgia. She worked faithfully for 18 years with The Bibb Mill Company and later with Swift Textile until her retirement in 2012. Beyond her professional life, her true passion was people. She gave generously of her time and spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. Her legacy is one of faith, family, service, and loveβa legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Inell Davis; her sister, Adele "Bob" Alexander; her nephew, Jarvis Sanks; and her great-niece, Ashley Gamble.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 41 years, Tyrone Jones; three daughters, Keisa Davis of Atlanta, Georgia, Latricia (Jeffrey) Smith of Columbus, Georgia, and Keisa Peabody of Smith Station, Alabama; and one son, Kelven Jones of Columbus, Georgia. She was the proud grandmother of Jacobi Miles, Silas Wyatt, Ian Roman, Nasjla Peabody, Nadia Peabody, Jayden Peabody, Jordan Peabody, and Maddison Small.
She is also survived by three sisters, Judy (Frederick) Davis, Jeannette (Josephus) Sanks, and Janice James, all of Columbus, Georgia; two brothers, John (Mary) Davis and Kenneth Davis, both of Columbus, Georgia; as well as her uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Mrs. Gloria will truly be missed. She was loving, kind, and so welcomingβeven to a stranger. She opened her heart and welcomed my nephew into the family with open arms, and that kindness will never be forgotten. To the family, I send my love and keep you all in my prayers during this difficult time.
Sending my prayers and condolences to the family. While only knowing her for a short time, she had truly been a wonderful friend and a rock. She's also very humble and a selfless individual that should be remembered for the beautiful spirit she was. God has truly gained an Angel.
Love always,
Flora
