Obituary For Griggs Peterson, Jr.
Mr. Griggs Peterson, Jr., 66 of Phenix City, AL passed Sunday, August 15, 2021 in Columbus, GA.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery (Battle Community). Visitation is Friday, August 20, 2021 from 3-5 p.m. EST.
Mr. Griggs Peterson, Jr. was born on January 1, 1955 to the late Ella Vester and the late Griggs Peterson, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents the late Ella Vester and the late Griggs Peterson, Sr. and brothers, the late Johnny L. Peterson and the late Willie James Peterson.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He received an education from Barbour County School District and graduated from Rebecca Comer High School in 1972. He married Wanetta Ezell on June 27, 1980 and this union was blessed with two children.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted daughter, Raven Sherree Peterson; a loving and devoted son, Griggs Peterson III; three grandchildren, Zyon Monique Peterson, Raelyn Sindel Wilson, and Griggs Peterson IV, a loyal soulmate and companion, Wanetta Ezell, a son Christopher France, six brothers, David (Darlene) Peterson, Randolph (Daphne) Peterson, Roy Peterson, Donald Peterson, Melvin (Janie) Peterson, and Jimmie (Beverly) Peterson; three sisters, Margaret Peterson, Mary (Anthony) Smith, and Patricia (Ocie) Peterson-Bell, others that cherish his memory, Michael Daniels, Melvin Daniels, Xavier Daniels, and Kelvin Chatman, a loving uncle, Kary C. Washington, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mere words will never express Jr or Scrub as we affectionate called him. He was a ladies man. He was cool and debonair. He was a dancer. He was a fancy dresser. He was scarier. He loved to have a good time. He was a family man. He knew the Lord. I can go on and on about Scrub. He fried the best fish around. You could always count on him. Sometimes, we would run into each other at stores which usually was a hour long conversation He was Scrub. He will truly be missed by the family. He would say Jammer, everyhing will be alright. Scrub everything is alright. You take your rest. We all will miss you. I am certain that you will be frying fish in Heaven and feeding the angels. Fry on witch Jesus.

To my family man this one hit home. It hurt so bad, Jr slipped away from us. I called him Saturday and didn't get no answer. This man was a family man. He loved all his children and grandchildren.
