Sis. Gwendolyn Allen was born on December 27, 1950 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Mr. Lewis Richard Johnson and the late Mrs. Mattie P. Graham.
Gwendolyn, who was affectionately known as “Gwen” was a unique jewel. She was a graduate of South Girard High School Class of 1969. To know her was to love her and all that came with her through her laughing, jokes, cooking, and her love to being amongst her brothers “the boys”.
Many years of traveling across the world, she made her way back home to Phenix City. She worked for W.C. Bradley for more than 15 years. Having committed her life to Christ, she united with the Salem Chapel A.M.E. Church where she was a dedicated member until her health declined.
On Wednesday, November 26, 2025 she entered into eternal rest to be embraced by the arms of her loving parents once again.
In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her step-father, John D. Graham, Sr. and her brother SSG (Ret.) Melvin Johnson.
She leaves to treasure her memories her two children, Michael (Vinnsja) Allen of Aubrey, Texas and Teiona (Paul) Schaaf of Henderson, Nevada; siblings, Curtis Graham of Alexandria, LA; Horace Graham, Cecil Graham, John D. (Mary) Graham, Jr. and Charlie Grant Graham all residing in Phenix City, AL; sister in law, Shirley Johnson of Hephzibah, GA; aunts and uncles, Johnnie (Chester) Grady, Billy (Patricia)Barnett and Doris (Elder James) Knight all residing in Opelika, AL; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

No matter what Gwen faced in life, she always smiled and pushed through. Her heart may have been heavy with many disappointments but she always showed joy. Never let anyone steal your joy! Her motto stayed with me, REST SIS you're at peace.
You will definitely be missed...
You will be truly missed.
To the Brothers and Family of Gwen J. Allen Our hearts are broken. We will forever remember the kindness Gwen showed us. We were all stationed in Germany. Gwen made being away from home bearable. We toured Germany together, on the Audubon and Bahnhof, never a dull moment. We visited Gwen and her family upon arriving back home in the United States. Her mother and brothers made us feel like family. She was a true friend. We watched her protect and provide for her children. Gwen had the courage to stand in the gap for her children. They should be proud of her. We will miss Our Friend. May God's Peace, Love and Joy abide with you, in your time of sorrow. We love you All! Jimmie, Ann, and Chris Hudson
Will miss you cousin. Will keep family in prayer.
