Ms. Gwendolyn Whittlesey, 71, of Columbus, GA passed Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, February 26, 2022 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Benjamin McGruder, officiating. Interment will follow in Stephens Cemetery, Phenix City, AL.
Ms. Whittlesey was born November 25, 1950 in Phenix City, AL to the late Eddie C. Whittlesey and Annie Mae Fleming. She accepted Christ at a early age and was currently a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church.
"Once a nurse, always a nurse." A phrase every nurse knows, but no truer words could describe Gwen who spent most of her adult career as a LPN and RN touching the lives of countless people. She eventually retired from St. Francis Hospital after 15 years of service.
She was preceded in eternal rest by the love of her life Climmie Lee Wyatt, Four brothers, Abraham Fleming, Eddie C. Whittlesey Jr., Donald Whittlesey and Eric Nelams.
She is survived by three daughters, Deidra Whittlesey, Shanise Whittlesey-Thomason and Sharone Whittlesey; two brothers, Bobby Whittlesey and Gregory Whittlesey; one sister, Cathy Nelams; six granddaughters, Jamecia Simmons, Shantrice Glaze, Andrea Glaze, Aisha Glaze, Chelsea Whittlesey and Chyna Pritchett; two grandsons, Christopher Pritchett and Markeith Glaze; a devoted best friend, Yolanda Rome and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
