Irene Hicks-Dixon, 91, passed on Wednesday, January 1, 2026 in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. EST on Friday, January 9, 2026 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. James P. Daniels, officiating. Burial in the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Public viewing is 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
Sister Irene Hicks Dixon was born on July 10, 1934, in Pittsview, AL., she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Lillie Johnson Hicks, and was one of nine children. Sister Dixon confessed Christ at an early age, and became a member of the Friendship Baptist Church Villula, AL. She was the President of the Usher Board and the President over the Kitchen Committee for over 50 years.
Sister Dixon departed this life at her residence in Phenix City, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Dixon, several sisters and one brother. She was among the first graduating class at Mt. Olive High School. She worked over 20 years at Swift Mill in Columbus, GA and several years as a Domestic Engineer.
She leaves to cherish her memories; five children, Jimmie (Deborah) Dixon of Atlanta, GA., Harritta Dixon McGill of Phenix City, AL., Joe (Jean) Dixon of Atlanta, GA., James (Annie) Dixon of Phenix City, AL., Alfornia Dixon of Atlanta, GA.; grandchildren, great grandchildren, along with three sisters; Emma Terry, Corrie (James) Upshaw, Ethel (John) Westbrook; three sister in laws, Bertha Hicks, Vera Dixon, and Carolyn Dixon; other relatives and friends.
