JD Wilson was born on August 26, 1947, in Salem, Alabama, to the beloved late Vandy Lee Wilson and Gladys Moore Wilson.
At the age of 13, JD accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined St. Paul C.M.E. Church in Crawford, Alabama. He was educated at Good Hope Elementary School and Wacoochee High School prior to entering workforce.
JD was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and dependability. His first job was in the Bibb Mill Twisting Department at the age of 17. He later worked as a tire builder at B.F. Goodrich/Michelin Tires in Opelika, Alabama where he devoted 40 years of service before retiring in 2009. JD prided himself in never missing a day of work during his career. In addition to being a dedicated employee, JD was a family man—always pouring knowledge and wisdom into his children, nieces and nephews; always fellowshipping with those he loved. He was an avid antique collector, a foodie and a fashion connoisseur. JD enjoyed luxury brands and custom suits. He was a meticulous homemaker who enjoyed hosting the after parties. JD’s life was marked by his love for his family, his hard-work and bold yet caring spirit.
On Monday, June 1, 2026 he departed this life at home. Preceding his death were his parents; loving son, Jamarh D. (Weza) Thomas Wilson; three brothers Henry, Edward and James Vandy Wilson, (as a brother) Larry Williams; one sister Mary Ethel Williams; one granddaughter, Chenoa Cochran; four nephews and five nieces.
He leaves to cherish his memory, six children Brodie and Tamika Alexander both of Ft Mitchell, AL, Randy (Faye) Johnson of Columbus GA, Tekia Walden of Smiths, AL, Christinia (Tyrone) Lemons of Salem, AL & Jennifer ( Jarian) Dubose of Phenix City, AL; 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; four siblings, Alberta Williams of Salem, AL, Thomas (Gladys) Wilson of Phenix City, AL, Sarah Nell Wright and Dorothy (Melvin) Hodge both of Salem, AL; his longtime special friend, Lillie Walden; two nephews as brothers, Walter and Harry Williams both of Salem, AL; a special cousin Homer (Barbara) Hodge of Salem, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
We were all enriched by his presence. Though he will be greatly missed, his wisdom will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
