Jessie Mae Streeter affectionately known as "Grandma” was born March 5, 1932 to the late Queen Smith and Robert Daniel of Phenix City, AL. She was called home on July 1, 2022 at the age of 90, surrounded by loved ones.
Ms. Jessie Streeter was a long time resident of Phenix City, AL where she was raised in a loving household. Growing up Jessie was the oldest girl out of 8 siblings. If you had the opportunity to sit with Ms. Jessie, she would always share stories of her life when times were different. Jessie Streeter, at the young age of 16, was a nursemaid in Alabama for private homes. She would assist with caring for children and later started her own family including 6 girls and 4 boys.
Jessie was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Seale, AL. This became her church home after accepting Christ and she ensured all her children and grandchildren were front and center for Sunday school. While at Pleasant Hill, Jessie was a member of the choir, she loved to sing about God’s goodness and His love. She was a prayer warrior and was constantly talking to God on behalf of others. Even in her weak moments, she would rely heavily on her faith and let anyone including her doctors know that Doctor Jesus is indeed her healer. She never ended a conversation without praying and saying, "I love you". She was the epitome of strength and having faith in the grain of a mustard seed. She taught her family how to seek God in everything that we do and to trust God.
She beared good fruit of selflessness, kindness, love, peace, and generosity. She loved to be surrounded by her family and friends and watching Mr. Steve Harvey at 8 p.m. Jessie never believed in saying "goodbye" but "see you later". In her absence, Jessie would like for her family to continue to keep God in the center of everything you do and not to dwell in her absence but smile from her memories.
Jessie was reunited with her parents, Robert Daniel and Queen Smith; husband, Willie Lee Streeter; five brothers, RP Daniel, Joe Daniel, Freddie Daniel, Robert Daniel and Roosevelt Daniel; three sisters, Bessie Mae Daniel, Annie Lee Daniel and Elizabeth Daniel; five children, Patricia Hardman, Martha “Marjean” Cox, Cheryl Streeter Thomas, William Streeter and Andrail Amaya; one great grandchild, Kierra “Keke” Cox.
