Uncle Jimmy was a kind man who always kept a smile on his face. I'll always remember how warm and welcoming he was during our family gatherings. Visiting his and Aunt Mabel's home was one of the highlights of my summers in Alabama. So blessed to have known him. May God grant peace to the Franklin's and the rest of his family.
Praying that the God of all Comfort and Grace will sustain you. Love, Marjorie M. Johnson
Jimmie L. Franklin was my Father-in-Love! Married to his oldest son for forty-three years, I have many memories. Recently, I wrote in my journal, some of his many qualities I admire: strong love for his family, strong work ethic, sense of humor( great one-liners and perfect timing); storytelling ability, impeccable memory-just to name a few. How thankful we are for the legacy that will live on in his children, grands and great grands. I see so much of him in my husband( put those hands side by side and it is impossible to tell them apart); I see his good looks in all his children, and his fierce, independent, determined nature in his grand and great grands. We will miss him and even shed tears- not so much from sadness or loss, but tears of joy as we remember him, relaxing on the patio or watching tv in the den, commenting on religion, politics and life. Invariably we can all hear his response to our query, "How are you doing? 'Hanging tough'", he would answer. Dad has a new home now in Glory with his beloved Mabel: his sweet sister Beatrice, family, friends, and those Great Cloud of witnesses. I am not sad today- just thankful to have known and been touched by a man of his stature and wisdom. I am thankful my son and grandsons have a real life hero to emulate. Love and prayers of comfort to all the family. Alice
