Mr. Jimmy Lee Foster, Sr., 71, of Phenix City, AL passed on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 in Columbus, GA.
Mr. Foster was born October 8, 1954, in Columbus, GA. He was born to the late Elisha Foster, Sr. and Williemae Chappell-Foster.
On March 31, 2026, Jimmy entered into eternal rest at Piedmont Hospital, surrounded by the comfort of his loved ones.
Jimmy attended Central High School in Phenix City, AL. He joined Pine Hill Missionary Baptist church in Phenix City, AL at an early age. He was a Bi-City Champion for the Central High School Wrestling team, known as “Master”, and he also played football. Jimmy went on to further his education at Penn Foster College where he obtained his degree as a Physical Therapy Aide. He devoted 25 years to Canterbury Nursing Home, working in the Restorative Physical Therapy department. During that time, he also held a part-time position for six years with the Phenix City School Board as an evening custodian at Meadowlane Elementary School. After retiring Canterbury, he continued his career at Hughston Hospital in Columbus, GA, where he worked in the Physical Therapy Department for 10 years before retiring once again. Later, he worked part-time with ABM of W.C. Bradley for 7 years, remaining there until his passing.
Jimmy had a “green thumb” for yard work, he was a protector of his family, and he was overly zealous of his grandchildren.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his wife of 52 years, Yonyetta “Sha” Thomas Foster, Phenix City, AL; his son, Jimmy Lee Foster, Jr. (Champ), Phenix City, AL; two daughters, Tenisha Avery, Ozark, AL and Valencia Foster, Phenix City, AL; brother, Elijah Foster, Jr. (Etta Foster); two sisters, Francis Adams, and Lula Berry both of Phenix City, AL; one sister-n-law, Donia Foxx (Kenneth Foxx) of Columbus, GA; 11 grandchildren, Jalan Foster of Anchorage, AK, Jia Foster and JaShaun Foster of Houston, TX, Jayden Foster of Matthews, NC, Jayla Jakes, Javon Jakes, Jathan Foster, Jermani Jakes all of Phenix City, AL, Zachai Steele, Zuri Steele, and Zion Thomas of Ozark, AL; one great grandchild, Aulani Monroe Loggin of Houston, TX; three god daughters, Melissa Griffin of Columbus, GA, Antonetta Finch-Mathes of Lithia Springs, GA, and Kristy Sams-Cliatt, Phenix City, AL; two special daughters, Esha Coleman (Bobby Coleman, Sr.), of Phenix City, AL, Jermil Heard (Marcus Heard, Sr.), of Phenix City, AL; two nieces, Destiney Ligon, of Memphis, TN and Ezelia Nathan, of Gadsden, AL whom he raised as his daughters; two god sons, the late Anthony Williams formerly of Atlanta, GA, and Reginald Sumbry, Columbus, GA.
A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Jimmy leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, resilience, and dedication that will be cherished by his family forever.
