Obituary For Jimmy Thomas
Jimmy Thomas, 66, of Columbus, GA passed on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Coolsprings Baptist Church, Pittsview, AL with Rev. Fritzthadus Mack, pastor and Rev. Fred Griffin, officiating. Interment to follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Pittsview, AL. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST Friday, October 3, 2025.
Jimmy Thomas was born June 16, 1959, in Seale, Alabama to the late Rena Williams Thomas and the late William Thomas. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Shady Grove Baptist Church in Pittsview, AL where he later became and remained a faithful servant of God until his victory was won. Jimmy was truly a humble servant, and he was never impressed by titles. The only title that mattered to him was being known as a Child of God. He had that ‘Just Do It’ spirit—If something needed to be done, he just did it! Jimmy loved everyone and never met a stranger. He had a special bond with his daughter, Corinthia, and her two children. He was very kind and believed in keeping the peace with humor and by being a compassionate listener and confidante.
Jimmy was educated in the Russell County School System and graduated from Chavala High School in 1978 along with his sister Rena. The Class of ’78 was extended family to him. He worked at various jobs until he discovered his passion for Lawn Care Services. He enjoyed caring for the lawns of many family members and friends. Jimmy always wanted to see a smile on your face from a well-manicured lawn. Another, favorite pastime was watching and attending most sporting events and tailgating, but most of all, he was a huge Carver High School fan and supporter although his daughter never attended Carver. Whenever and wherever Carver was participating, you could count on finding Jimmy there.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Mary Williams; sister, Phernesta Fay Thomas Miles and aunt, Annie Lee Epps.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his loving memory, his beautiful daughter, Corinthia Danielle Thomas of Columbus, GA; grandson, Khiren Thomas; granddaughter, McKinley Bynam; bonus son, Timothy King of Seale, AL; seven sisters, Bertha Brown, Rosia Kirk and Willow Butler all of Columbus, GA; Rena Clowers (William) of Stone Mountain, GA, Gloria Crowell and Donna Thomas of Fort Mitchell, AL, Annnie Terrell (George) of Columbus, GA; five brothers, Turner Williams (Jeanette), Robert Thomas, James Thomas (Georgia) all of Columbus, GA; Daniel Thomas (Josseittia) of Indianapolis, IN, and Joseph Thomas of Fort Mitchell, AL; cousin, Mary Epps Jackson of Seale, AL; bonus mom, Minnie Thomas of Fort Mitchell, AL; a devoted friend, Quandoris “Doris” McKeithian and her son Brandon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, church family and The Chavala High Class of 1978.
