Joesph Ivey, 69, passed on Thursday, December 26, 2024 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service to be held 2:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Antioch Baptist Church located at 474 Antioch Rd, Pittsview, AL with Minister Barbara Ivey, eulogist. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing is Friday, January 3, 2025 from 1 - 5 p.m. EST.
Joseph (Big Slate) Ivey was born on March 30, 1955 to Peter and Nettie Mae Ivey in Pittsview, AL.
Joseph graduated in the class of 1974 from Russell County High School in Hurtsboro, AL. He later attended North American Training Academy where he learned to drive tractor trailer trucks. He loved baseball, blues music, fishing, hunting and wrestling.
He was previously employed at Fieldcrest Cannon and Swift Spinning Mills of Columbus, GA.
Joseph departed this life on December 26, 2024 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Facility in Columbus, GA. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Peter Ivey, and sister, Callie Ivey.
He leaves to cherish his memories his three children, Tarsha Hall of Pittsview AL, QuayShawn Ivey of College Park, GA and Sedrick (Valencia) Ivey of Smiths Station, AL; four grandchildren, Kayla, Kourtney and Kyrea Hall of Pittsview, AL and Takia Ivey of Phenix City, AL; three brothers, Willie (Linda) Ivey and Henry Ivey of Phenix City, AL, Ruthers (Deloise) Ivey of Pittsview, AL; two sisters, Betty Mallory of Detroit, MI and Lonie (Charlie) Wiggins of Columbus, GA; devoted ex-wife, Barbara Ivey; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
