Mr. Johnnie Lee McCoy, 77, of Seale, AL, passed on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in Atlanta, GA.
Funeral service to be held at 1:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church, Seale, AL with Rev. Lawrence Stephens, Pastor and Pastor Lenora Perry, officiating. Burial to follow in the McCoy Cemetery, Seale, AL. Visitation is Friday, April 14, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. EST.
Mr. Johnnie Lee McCoy was born July 30, 1945 in Russell County, AL to the late Albert McCoy and the late Lelia Toliver McCoy.
Mr. McCoy attended school in Russell County, AL, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University in Normal, AL, and his Masters in Business Administration degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. He worked several years at GTE, continuing after the merge with Verizon where he retired after receiving multiple Excellence in Leadership Awards.
Johnnie McCoy received Christ as his Savior at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church in Seale, AL. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Yvonne Long McCoy, whom he met at Alabama A&M University. May 30, 2023 would have marked 54 years of marriage for the couple. An excellent provider for his family, John is rumored to have been financially generous to those in need. He was savvy in his accounting profession and had a wit and humor that was unparalleled. Those he loved knew so because of his actions, not his words.
Aside from his parents, Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine McCoy; his brother, Eddie B. McCoy, and two nieces.
Left to cherish memories of him and to celebrate his new beginnings in Paradise are his wife, Yvonne Long; his children, Raphael Lamar McCoy (LaShawna), Reverend Nicole Felicia McCoy, and Margarlelia Ann McCoy-Rolle (Wilson); seven brothers and sisters, Alvin McCoy, Betty Jackson, Lewis C. McCoy, Delphine Perry, William H. McCoy (Kimberly), Queen L. Robinson (Michael), and Ronnie McCoy. He was also blessed with four grandchildren, two bonus grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.
