Ms. Josephine Greene, 67, of Phenix City, AL passed Sunday, July 20, 2025 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, August 2, 2025 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Desi Morgan, officiating. Public viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. EST to 5:00 p.m EST on Friday, August 1, 2025.
Mrs. Josephine Green was born on February 16, 1958 to the late George Green, Jr. and the late Carrie Tate Green. She received her elementary and middle school education at Sandfort School and graduated from Chavala High School in Seale, Alabama in the Class of 1975. After high school, she attended Alabama State University in Huntsville, Alabama.
She enjoyed God’s beautiful nature and anyone could always find her outside in the yard or sitting on the porch. She also enjoyed watching college football and NFL football. Her favorite college football team was The University of Alabama “Roll Tide”. Her favorite NFL football team was Pittsburg Steelers.
During her career, she was employed by Colonial Bread House in Phenix City, Alabama, Walmart in Phenix City, Alabama and Columbus Technical College in Columbus, Georgia.
Josephine always remembered everyone’s birthday and would call and wish all of her sisters and brother a Happy Birthday as well as her nieces, nephews and other family members. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Josephine accepted Christ at an early age and united with Uchee Chapel A.M.E. Church in Seale, Alabama.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Plavka; her parents, George Green, Jr. and Carrie Tate Green; her son-in-law, Steven “Steve” Rainbolt; and her brother-in-law, Robert Lee “Doc” Morris.
On Sunday, July 20, 2025, God called Josephine home. She made a peaceful transition from this life to her eternal home. Josephine leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Takita Rainbolt; one brother, Walter Lee Green; three sisters, Gloria Morris, Carrie (Emmit) Day, and Georgia Mae Green; two grandchildren, Nevaeh Rainbolt and Elijah Rainbolt; one sister-in-law, Lura Morris Green; four nieces;
nine nephews; eight great nieces; 19 great nephews; six great-great nieces; four great-great nephews; a special cousin, Catherine Yvonne Kelly Myers; a special high school friend, Rose Marie Battle Warren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
We was sadness to hear the passing of your love one, the Greene Family you all have ours prayers and deepest condolences.May God be your strength during these difficult time.
I will hold on to the memories we shared....my Dearest Sister with a smile that brightened a room when she entered.
