Obituary For Juanita Reed

Juanita Reed, 76, of Phenix City, AL passed on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in Phenix City, AL.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, May 30, 2026 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. David Dawson, officiating. Burial to follow at St. Paul AME Church, Hurtsboro, AL. Public viewing will be from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Juanita Phillips Reed was born on June 30, 1949 in Hurtsboro, Alabama to the late Rufus and Rebecca Phillips Sr.

Ms. Juanita as she was affectionately known, answered the Master's call on May 25, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents Rufus Sr. and Rebecca Phillips, brothers Clarence and Rufus Phillips, and sister Alberta Phillips.

Ms. Juanita grew up in Hurtsboro, AL and received her formal education from Russell High School class of 1968. Upon graduation, she attended Alabama State University in Montgomery. She later continued her education at Troy University in Phenix City earning a degree in Human Resources. Juanita worked in the Phenix City Human Resources office where she faithfully served for several years. Walmart is where Ms. Juanita continued her passion for serving. Over the course of 30 years, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly until her retirement to managing employees and providing excellent customer service in many different roles.

Ms. Juanita was a loving mother, friend to many, and servant of God. She a was member of New Mt. Zion Church in Columbus, Georgia. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, traveling, and exploring new places. Ms. Juanita was known for her love of the outdoors whether planting flowers, cutting grass, or working on home improvement projects. Her hardworking spirit, dedication to others, and caring heart will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Ms. Juanita leaves to cherish her precious memories her two devoted sons, Tremayne (Miyoshi) Banks and Brandon (Brittany) Reed, loving sister, Bettye Phillips, eight grandchildren Markeist (Kadejah) Banks, Niyoshi Banks, Deidrich Alemezohu, Jamarkest Banks, Ashdon Reed, Araya Miller, Yionn Reed, and Mila Reed, two nieces Qundia (Demarco) Ragland and LaTonya (Pinding) Albury, a nephew Felix Phillips, and a host of great grandchildren, other family members, and friends.

Her legacy of love, strength, hard work, and service to others will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
