Obituary For King Samuel Reeves, Jr.
Mr. King Samuel Reeves, Jr., 69, of Phenix City, AL passed Saturday, June 24, 2023 in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST, Friday, June 30, 2023 at Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church, Phenix City, AL Rev. Raymond Swafford, Co-Pastor and Rev. Alvelyn Sanders-Swafford, Co-Pastor and Rev. Christopher Reeves, eulogist. Burial to follow in Zion at the Hill A.M.E. Church, Opelika, AL. Visitation is Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 12-5 p.m. EST.
Mr. King Reeves, Jr. was born on January 8,1954 to the late King Samuel Reeves, Sr. and Essie Rene Tate Reeves.
He was a proud 1972 graduate of Central High School in Phenix City, AL where he was on the track and basketball team. He attended Columbus Tech for auto mechanics.
King worked at Southern Phenix Textile for 33 years. and retired from Vectorply after 12 years. He was known for his autobiographical memory of sports, historical events and both companies history. He was also a very passionate and loyal fan of the University of Alabama and The Boston Celtics.
He joined Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church in 1993 and was on the Usher Board until he became disabled.
King was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elijah and Alma Kindred Tate and his paternal grandparents, Glenzy and Mattie Baker Reeves.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Annie Ruth Reeves; two sons, Christopher (Gwen) Reeves and Angelo (Danielle) Reeves; one daughter, Bernice Woods; three brothers, Larry (Sylvia) Reeves, Bernard (Lavon) Reeves and Wayne Reeves; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; six sisters-in-law, Annie Will Turpin, Hurtsboro, AL, Mildred (Moses) Brown, Phenix City, AL, Yvonne Cox, Midway, AL, Odessa Cox Phenix City, AL, Irene (Charles) Penn Union Springs, AL and Eunice (Danny) Ricks Phenix City, AL; one brother-in-law, Otis Cox Hartford, CT;two fur friends, Blackie and Big AL; a host of devoted cousins and countless other relatives and friends whom he always remained close to.
