Larry Brewer, Sr., 74, passed on Friday, September 26, 2025 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. EST, Friday, October 3, 2025 at Hosley Chapel C.M.E. Church, Columbus, GA with Rev. Dr. Antoine Shyne, pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in Friendship Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL. Visitation is Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m EST.
Larry Brewer, Sr., affectionately known as "Mr. Gospel," departed this life on September 26, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on June 18, 1951, Larry was the beloved son of the late Sylvester Brewer and Jessie Mae Matt.
He was a man of unwavering faith, a pillar of the gospel community, and a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew him. Known as "Mr. Gospel," Larry’s passion for playing the bass guitar with The Gospel Kings, the gospel group he managed for so many years, and his dedication to spreading hope through song enriched countless lives. His faith was evident in every aspect of his life, and he uplifted those around him with his belief in the power of love, family, and faith.
Larry’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched—his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life marked by compassion, resilience, strength, and an unwavering commitment to faith and family.
Larry’s passing marks a bittersweet reunion as he goes home to be with his cherished twin brother, the late Harry Brewer. Together, their bond was a testament to the power of family, and their legacy will continue to inspire those they leave behind.
Larry Brewer, Sr. is survived by four devoted sons: Christopher Bernard Brewer, Ricardo Brewer, Larry (Monica) Brewer, Jr, and Patrick Threatts and one daughter, Tameka Threatts (Ronnie) Brown. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Gabrielle Allen, Jasmine Brewer, Raven Brewer, Devante Brewer, Norman Andrews, and Emeardle Andrews. His legacy continues as it extends to his ten great-grandchildren, whose lives will forever be touched by his gentle spirit.
Larry also leaves behind a forever daughter in law, Ulinda Brewer, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, each of whom cherished his warmth, generosity, and unwavering support.
He was a guiding light in their lives—a source of encouragement and joy during both triumphs and trials.
The Brewer family invites all who knew Larry to join in honoring his memory, cherishing the moments shared, and carrying forward the lessons he so gracefully imparted.
