Larry Dixon, 76, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on August 15, 2026.
Larry was born on January 17, 1950, in Russell County, Alabama, to the late Reverend Jeff Dixon and Sarah Key Dixon. He was raised with strong family values and carried with him a love for family, fellowship, and the outdoors throughout his life.
At an early age, Larry joined Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout the years, he maintained his connection to the church and attended on special occasions, particularly to support family and friends.
On February 14, 2004, Larry married Virginia, and through their union, he was blessed with three bonus children whom he embraced as his own: Stanley, Desiree, and Priscilla. His family continued to grow, bringing him the added joy of ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Larry was employed by the Russell County Highway Department, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring in 2009.
Larry truly enjoyed the outdoors and the simple pleasures of country living. Fishing and hunting were among his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed raising goats, pigs, and chickens and took great pride in preparing and cooking wild game. Whether he was outdoors, preparing a meal, or entertaining family and friends, Larry enjoyed bringing people together and sharing the things he loved with those around him.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Jeff Dixon and Sarah Key Dixon; three sisters, Sarah Jean Lamb, Virginia Dixon, and Betty Baker; his brother, John Key; and his twin brother, Harry Dixon.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Virginia; one son, Stanley Jones of Salem, Alabama; two daughters, Desiree Harris of Salem, Alabama, and Priscilla (Timothy) McCoy of Stafford, Virginia; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Reverend Hovet Dixon Sr. (Tanglia) and James Lamar Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Larry's life will be remembered through the many memories shared by his family and all who knew and loved him.

With a heavy heart I just found out that a great friend and all around great guy passed away two weeks ago. I'm glad that my brother and myself went to see him a few months ago. He told us that he loved us and not to forget him. We never will. We worked side by side with him building my grandfather's shop. He knew our worth when no one else did. I remember going to see him years ago. He told one of his young relatives that the young man had never worked as hard as we have. This man took up for us many times in our youth. We will never forget you, Larry Dixion. Rest in peace old friend. Heaven became a better place with you there. I hope to see you when I get there, old friend.
