He was born in Russell County, Al and spent most of his childhood in Society Hill, AL. It was there that he dedicated his life to Christ and joined Zion At The Hill AME Zion Church. As a teenager, LC decided he wanted to create better opportunities for himself and his family, so he persued as much work as he could find. Together, they built a beautiful legacy, raising five children. After leaving Bibb Mills, he furthered his career at Southeastern lead. Being the achiever he was, he sought to expand his skills by enrolling in Heavy Equipment Operator School.Upon graduation, he returned to Alabama and found employment with the Uniroyal plant in Opelika, AL., where he eventually retired after 27 years of dedication and service.
To know Mr. Ligon was to love him, and he was well known in his community. He was admired as honest, hardworking, dedicated, friendly, helpful, nurturing, and a rolemodel and a guide. These attributes are what will keep his legacy alive in the hearts of those who knew him.
Among all his accomplishments, his greatest pride was his connection with God and pasing that along to his. LC was my wife's cousin, but he and I were close as brothers. We used to travel back and forth to see each other before we both got down and couldn't travel. We talked regularly on the phone and I talked to him a couple days before his homegoing. I'll miss his wisdom and friendship most of all. We had some great times together and we both love Gospel Quartet music. I look forward to seeing him again one day.
We missed L C's constant visits when he didn't drive anymore and enjoyed that he kept in touch by phone. He had a sense of community and tried to stay in touch with his people. Now, we miss him. May he rest easy. Deepest Sympathies to the family. Lurine Frazier and Family.

My heart breaks knowing another person that's dear to me has transitioned. LC is one of 5 people I met at the Legrand/Ligon/Macon reunion years ago and felt an instant connection to. What an amazing person he was and what a remarkable life he lived. I feel so lucky that I got to know him. Covid disrupted our lives but I was glad to have had the opportunity to visit with him and his family after it settled down a bit. To the family of LC, with love and remembrance, we share in your sorrow.
I'm a member of the "McDonalds Crew" sometimes the only female there! And they tried to give me a hard time, all was good with fun and games. I enjoyed LC Ligon so much.
