Leon N. Hudgins, 87, of Columbus, GA passed on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, December 20, 2025 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey Dancy, officiating. Burial to follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Public viewing is 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, December 19, 2025.
Leon was born October 27, 1938 to the late George and Rosa Hudgins in Chattanooga, TN. After graduating from Howard High School he enlisted in the United States Army where he served for 20 years and retired as a Staff Sargeant. He then went to work for DOL Supply Unit in Fort Benning, GA and retired after 20 commendable years. Leon was a dutiful soldier, devoted husband, father and a hard worker.
He was preceded in death by four children, Joyce E. Flakes, Charlie J. Flakes, Louvenia Grant and Leon N. Hudgins, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving spouse of 58 years, Julia M. Hudgins; seven daughters, and three sons, Janice (Eleanor) Flakes of Douglasville, GA, Lillie Hudgins of Toledo, OH, Daphyne (Roy) Diamond, Veronica Flakes-Jefferson, Connie (Carl) Bryant of Columbus, GA, Gregory Hudgins of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Joann Mills of Chattanooga, TN and Robbie Felton of Charleston, SC; one brother, James (Peggy) Hudgins of Grand Heights, TX; 24 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Leon and Julia would like to acknowledge their care team for a phenomenal part of their lives, Denise Thomas, Rita Johnson and Margaret Morrow. Leon knows Mrs. Julia is in good hands with these three.
Although Leon's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and up lift us. May his memory be a blessing and may we carry forth his legacy of love, compassion and structure in all that we do.
