Mrs. Lessie Beatrice Ford, 86, of Phenix City, AL passed Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. EST, Monday, March 21, 2022 at Gaines Chapel A.M.E Church, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Nathaniel Copeland, pastor, Min. Wonder Henry, officiating and Bishop Wayne Babb, eulogist. Interment to follow in Stephens Cemetery, Phenix City, AL.
Lessie Beatrice Doctor Ford was born August 6, 1935, to the late George Doctor and Irene McCarter Doctor in Seale, Alabama. She was educated in the Russell County School System and was a 1954 graduate of Mt. Olive High School in Ft. Mitchell, Alabama. During her formative years, Lessie received salvation and united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of the Senior Choir and The Matron Board. Lessie later joined Oasis Church International serving faithfully until the pandemic. Her greatest joy was serving in the bookstore. We will miss her calls, smile and especially her caring spirit. Lessie made a peaceful transition to be with the Lord on March 15, 2022, comfortably at her home. Lessie was preceded in death by her husband, James Ford; stepmother, Elizabeth Doctor; siblings, Burrell, George, Jr., Adell A.C Doctor, Mary Doctor Wilson and Lorene Doctor Moses; step-siblings, Lonnie Luckerson, Eddie Bell McCoy and Lillie Mae Jackson; sons, Leroy Ford and Willie James Ford; daughter, Ruby Ford Washington; son-in-law, Charlie Mahogany; daughter-in-law, Tommie Mae and great-grandson, Mason L. Ford. Lessie was employed at Dolly Madison and retired after 25 years of dedicated service.
Lessie leaves a legacy to be carried on by her devoted family three daughters; Delois Ford Benton, Gloria Ford Mahogany and Josephine Ford; one son, Johnnie Ford all of Phenix City, Alabama; three sisters-in-law, Thelma Williams, Louise Ford and Georgia Luckerson all of Phenix City, Alabama; one brother-in-law, James Moses of Detroit, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and host of bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves to cherish nieces, nephews, cousins, many adopted children and friends.

She was such a sweet dear person to me, faithful and always had a smile upon greeting her even when she may not have been feeling well, she was always cheerful. She was dedicated to her call in the ministry, loved working in the Bookstore and always available. She will be truly missed at Oasis Church. She is now in the presence of the Lord and we have hope that we will meet again.
