Mrs. Linda Chambers, 76, of Phenix City, AL passed Saturday, January 29, 2022.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. EST, Friday, February 4, 2022 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Thornton, officiating. Interment to follow in Bethel A.M.E Church Cemetery, Phenix City, AL. Visitation will be Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 12-5 p.m. EST.
Linda affectionately called "Shawty" was born April 18, 1945 in Phenix City, AL to the late Andrew and Mary Alice Lyles Carnes.
She transitioned from this life on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in Phenix City, AL. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Leroy Chambers; grandparents, Jimmy and Marie Lyles, Mose and Annabelle Thomas; three brothers, Andrew Carnes, Jr., Roger Carnes and James Carnes; two sisters, Virginia Carnes and Vera Carnes; two brothers-in-law; Archie Cotton, Sr. and Willie James Preer.
Linda accepted Christ and was baptized at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Phenix City, AL. She served on the usher board, senior choir and pastor's aide committee until her health failed. She was known as a feisty and happy woman who brought joy to the lives of her family and friends.
She was a 1963 graduate of Mt. Olive High School, Ft. Mitchell, AL. She was a faithful and hardworking employee of the "Orange Bowl" restaurant in Columbus, GA for 19 1/2 years.
She leaves to cherish her memories two children; Lashone Chambers, Phenix City, AL and Terill (Almethia) Chambers, Phenix City, AL; two grandchildren; Terrance (Irene) Laney, Phenix City, AL and TaNesha (Mitchell) Holiday, Phenix City, AL; one great grandchild; Malik Holiday, Phenix City, AL; sister, Alberta Cotton, Phenix City, AL; three brothers; Walter (Lillie) Carnes, Phenix City, AL; Cecil (Janice) Carnes, Phenix City, AL and Willie B. (Bertina) Carnes, Columbus, GA; two sisters-in-law; Katie Carnes, Phenix City, AL and Jesse Mae Preer, Phenix City, AL; one god child; Allyshiana Bryant, Columbus, GA, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Auntie Linda, I will miss you until God calls me home. There are so many memories that we have shared. Thank you for everything you did for my kids and I. You had a heart of gold, and many people may not know that side of you. You were feisty at times, but in the end, there was always laughter. Rest In Peace until we meet again. I love you, Marie!
