In Loving Memory of Lisa Dianne Thompson
God's #1 Warrior, a Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend
With deep sorrow but immense gratitude for her life, we announce the peaceful transition of Lisa Dianne Thompson, who passed away on December 23, 2024, in Atlanta, GA. Born on May 10, 1968, in Columbus, GA, to Johnnie and Doris Pharrams (Cannon), Lisa’s vibrant spirit and unwavering faith left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A proud graduate of Jordan High School, Class of 1986, Lisa’s talent and enthusiasm shone through, especially as a dedicated member of the marching band, where she excelled in playing the clarinet. She later pursued her education in nursing, completing the Certified Nurse Aide program and graduating from Meadows Business College, always striving to better herself and serve others.
Lisa was a woman of many passions. As an active member of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, she volunteered with dedication and kept a strong, nurturing relationship with the Lord. She was a lover of life—traveling, cooking for family and friends, and hosting unforgettable events. Whether it was a baby shower, birthday party, or family gathering, Lisa’s incredible hosting skills earned her the affectionate title of “the fly and cool auntie.” To many, she was simply “Mamma,” a testament to the warmth, love, and values she shared with all who came into her life.
Her resilience and strength were evident in all aspects of her life, including her martial arts journey, where she earned a yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do. Lisa lived by the mantra, "You can be anything and do anything as long as you put your mind to it." This philosophy guided her through every challenge she faced, and she inspired others to live boldly and passionately.
Lisa was also a gifted decorator, winning an award for the most beautiful table at Diner en Blanc Atlanta, and a passionate gardener whose yard earned numerous accolades, including Yard of the Month and ultimately, Yard of the Year while stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA.
As a dedicated Army wife for over 20 years, Lisa embraced the life of service alongside her husband, Emanuel (Sr.), and their children. Her love and support were the foundation of their family, and she was an unwavering presence in the Army community.
Lisa leaves behind her beloved husband of 38 years, Emanuel (Sr.); their four children, Emanuel (Jr.), Emetrius, Emesha, and Emonie; and her treasured grandson, Eli. She is also survived by her siblings, Michael, Priscilla, Johnnie Mae ,Catherine and Danny, as well as her best friend Lisa Glenn and a host of friends and extended family who will miss her deeply.
Lisa’s legacy of love, strength, faith, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A warrior of faith and love, her light will never dim.
Rest in POWER , Lisa. You will forever be loved, cherished, and remembered.
“It's never goodbye but see you later.”
