Obituary For Lott Harris, Jr.
Lott Harris, Jr., 76, of Phenix City, AL passed on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. EST., Saturday, September 26, 2026 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Public visitation will be 2-5 p.m. EST. Friday, September 25, 2026 at the Taylor Funeral Home.
Lott Harris, Jr. of Phenix City, AL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Born on January 10, 1950 in Phenix City, he was the beloved son of the late Mattie Mae and Lott Harris, Sr.
Lott attended schools within the Phenix City School District. After graduating with the class of 1968 from South Girard High School, he pursued his passion for automotive mechanics. His exceptional skill and ingenuity earned him the respect of family, friends, and customers alike. A gifted mechanic and entrepreneur, he later owned and operated First Place Groceries store that became a gathering place in the community. Known for his quick wit, infectious humor, and charismatic spirit, he never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome.
Among Lott's greatest joys were classic cars, racing, and anything connected to the world of automobiles. He had a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship power, and beauty of vintage cars, and he enjoyed spending time working on engines, talking cars with friends, and sharing stories from the racetrack. His hobbies reflected both his mechanical talent and his adventurous spirit, and they brought him great pride, excitement, and connection with those who shared his passion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and Lott Harris, Sr., and brother Stanley Harris.
Lott leaves to cherish his memory his loving son, Quinton S. Smith of Phenix City, AL; his grandson, Ashton J. Smith; his two sisters, Veneria Kingsland (Charles) and Mertis Harris-Jones (Carey) of Columbus, GA; his nieces, Tywanda Bentley (Jeff) of Fairfax, VA, Tanya Egins (Chris) of Atlanta, GA, Tanisha Minger, Sheree' Minger, Toi Minger of Phenix City, AL and Nathaniel Kingsland (Jazmine) of Vancouver, BC.
In addition, he leaves behind three great nieces, three great nephews and a host of family and friends who will cherish his memory.
